I've tried, but I can't figure why Toyota wants the oil cap on this way

I think there are a large number of us here (myself included) that are mystified sometimes by manufacturer recommendations. And, to a lesser extent, feel the need to challenge those recommendations when they feel they are (I'll just come out and say it) superstitious in nature.

So, keeping with my deep rooted desire to buck the system, I just went downstairs to the parking lot, opened up my hood and turned the cap parallel to the bumper! I’ll report back to see if my UOA or MPG reflect any changes.

Besides, I always wanted to use the smahed car graemlin:
