Wow, I think what the elite are saying is that any fool that is willing to pay 500 bucks a year for a piece of plastic that essentially does nothing more than any other credit card is.. "the ultimate tool buying fool". LMAO~

I get my card through the Crosby Stills and Nash fan club. Proud carrier of the Marrakesh Express Mastercard. Me, at restaurant: "Do you take Marrakesh Express?" Waitress: "Sorry, no". Me, plunking it down: "You do now,

That's pretty sweet you got the invite. I guess you have to see if you can save over $500 a year with the special perks. That's how I view any annual fee or membership.

I guess they ran out of metal from the periodic table to call it a "black" card. First it was silver, then gold, platinum, and titanium. Hard to get noticed after titanium.

I'm surprised that the marketing dolts didn't call a card "UNOBTAINIUM" crackmeup Personally, I like to see one called the "Lead" card. whistle

Probably their first idea until the legal dolts reminded them that using the word "unobantium" would get their pants sued off by one James Cameron!

We got a black card solicitation a few years ago. The perks are good, but may not jusitfy the fees, although they may, depending upon how you use the card and what your buying habits are. A black card is the ultimate in the card pecking order, except for the old Air Travel Card, which still exists in a new form. Presenting a black card will gain you notice, but a card is no more than a form of payment. We use the cards that give the best returns on funds spent, and I would have to think very carefully before paying a yearly fee for any card.

They do, the "Centurian" card. I had an actor pay his bill with it when I worked at Sears. Our manager tried offering him a Sears card and he tossed that down on the counter.

Many of my "friends" got invited too, but holy annual fee batman, what they did was lots of visit to French Laundry and home remodeling on credit cards. Supposedly you can abuse your personal butler to get your stuff done for you (with a fee I'd imagine). Not sure if it is more affordable than hiring someone or if they will terminate you for abusing it.

That's the way to use them. I find it ironic that it is cheaper after rebates to use a credit card than it is to use cash, as long as you pay them off each month.

Let me see, the company got over (well over) $3000 (not saying any true totals here!) in CASH for just using our FREE Visa whenever we could for raw material, parts, etc, this year. I am part of the 100%!!!!

I understand the push for using cash only, but geez, we get about $25 back on our Discover card, in cash, ~each month~. Using credit cards comes with the stigma of spending money you don't have, but this isn't necessarily the case. Budget for what you spend, track what you spend, pay your bill every month, and they pay you to use it. Can't beat that.

They sent it to me as well a few months ago. I tore that sucker up real quick. The best card is no card at all(minus a debit card with ZERO fees).

I use a visa from my bank and pay it in full each month. I do not want a card that charges me a fee to use it because they also charge the merchant that accepts the card. I do not feel the need to impress anyone with the type of card I use.

Since the merchant pays a fee (is it 1-3%?), I suppose one can dicker over the price if you promise to pay cash.

On average my credit cards get me about 200 per year in cash back reward and no fee. They no longer offer these cards but I got grand fathered in. BofA business master, 5% on gas Chase business master, 3% on home improvement and restaurant Capital one, 1.5% on everything
