“After being married for 50 years, I took a careful look at my wife one day and said, ‘Fifty years ago we had a cheap house, a junk car, slept on a sofa bed and watched a 10-inch black and white TV, but I got to sleep with a hot 23-year-old girl every night.

Now, I have a $500,000 home, a $45,000 car, a nice big bed and a large screen TV, but I'm sleeping with a 69-year-old woman. It seems to me that you're not holding up your side of things.’

My wife is a very reasonable woman. She told me to go out and find a hot 23-year-old girl and she would make sure that I would once again be living in a cheap house, driving a junk car, sleeping on a sofa bed and watching a 10-inch black and white TV.

Aren't older women great? They really know how to solve an old guy's problems.”

When I recently boasted to my old college professor about being married 47 years, he rifled back " that just means that you really mastered the ability to tolerate each other".

I disagree, one should look at each others traits and decide before things get serious if you will be able to tolerate each other. I have no desire to look for a replacement luckily. I hope she doesn't either.

It will not be 50 years until July. Zillow has our first house valued at $470K for 970 SF. We bought it the end of 1975 for $23K. It was so primitive back then we did not even have a microwave until 1980, we got the color tv in 1981. Now we live in a way nicer house Zillow values at $419K. That is the difference being in more rural Arizona instead of near Seattle.

Good times then and now. I would not trade in my 72 year old wife for any 22 year old.

So if your wife is 73, who is this 69 year old woman???

Congratulations on soon to be 50 years of marriage!!

My wife and I will be married 25 years in June. We lived together prior to marriage to figure it out. I can't imagine life without her. Yes, there have been moments, but I'm still all in after 31 years of being together.

I did make the joke when she turned 40 about 2-20 year olds. She laughed and said that I wouldn't know what to do... o_O

Just my $0.02

Lots of Vitamin E-and keep the nitroglycerin pills handy! Only 36 years for me so far.
