Italian Tune-Up (no disrespect to Italians)

always do that after extended idling in the trucks. smokes like a train when you step on it , clears all the soot out.

I'd like to think that the car always runs better after a couple hard on-ramp pulls (on a warm engine, of course). Driving on Nebraska (75mph limit) or N/S. Dakota (80 mph limit) interstates probably doesn't allow much carbon build-up, either, and I'm frequently on the highway anyhow, so I would like to imagine my engine being pretty carbon-free.

Of course, sometimes the cruise control tries to make the car do this on its own when set at such high speeds and encountering minor-moderate hills.

I always think of a story of of Northstar V8s running poorly and techs dumping in a bottle of Techron-equivalent and revving them a good bit to clear them up.

To a point, it seems that running is the best thing for an engine.

Carbon cleaned out? Check.

I hit 140 in my BRZ on an empty country 4 lane road and a sport bike was surprised I would challenge him on the top end. I got the jump cause I snaked my way through slower traffic first and he was about 10 car lengths delayed.

I held it for a few seconds at 140 and got off the gas cause of slower traffic about a mile a head.

BRZ very smooth at that speed and I set the shift ‘chime / beeps’ at 7000 RPMs.

If you met me in person there’s no way I look like I enjoy driving fast if conditions are safe. 👴
