Never got the opportunity to try either line of product before they were discontinued but I'd like to try some in my Pathfinder if anybody has any Valvoline NextGen or G-Oil 5w30 or 10w30 in their stockpile they'd be willing to ship to 83501.

Not sure I would want to use some old G-oil.
It was an animal fat based oil, and read of issues of it having a short "real" shelf life before breaking down and becoming unusable as motor oil. Want to say they said 3 year shelf life?
It has not been made for probably 7-8 years for automotive grade oils.

Next Gen was nothing spectacular. I know some of the weights had very poor NOACK.

Having used both, you are not missing anything.

I have more than I thought-15 individual quarts of NextGen MaxLife 10W30 synthetic blend, 2 5 liter jugs of NG ML 10W30, and 1 5 quart jug of NG ML 10W30. Not sure of the odds on the jugs surviving shipping (but not leaking, YET). I wouldn’t want very much, but shipping cost would likely be rough to ID-how about $50 plus shipping for all 30+ quarts? Shame you’re not local! All SN, synthetic blend.

Bump. I'm still interested in some G-Oil or Nextgen. More interested in the G-Oil than anything though, just for the sake of being able to say I tried it out.

We had a ton of that in school. When it was discontinued all the local auto parts stores donated it to the school like they typically did with any discontinued stuff. I personally would never run that in my engine with it being 50% recycled but that’s just me. I’m sure most of that oil is still there as we had tons of it. Pallets and pallets lol. If a shop used that in my car I’d be very upset. Wish I could help you find some.

I’m so confused. Nothing is wrong with Valvoline nextgen, it’s a usable API approved oil. Safety Kleen sells tons of oil to shops, private fleet customers, government fleet customers, etc and it’s perfectly fine stuff. So why would you be mad if it was put in your car? On the other hand, why seek it out when you can likely by oil cheaper at your local Walmart, Costco, or auto parts store instead of buying it from some random person on the internet and shipping it. It’s literally just oil?

Nothing wrong with a re refined oil at all. It met API specs. Some old wives tales and “myths” need put to rest.

Trust me, you do not want any NOS G-Oil. What @blupupher said is true, it had a relative short expected shelf like.

I had a bunch of it from back in the day when it went for "free after rebate". Even within expected shelf life, it was the only API spec'd oil that I tried that was on the low margins of spec and staying in grade after a 5K mile OCI.

Valvoline NextGen is a different story and would have no problem with any NOS of it.
