Is this GC or regular Syntec (I know the difference)?

Yes, I know what GC looks like, I have a few bottles. But while at AZ today, I came across this bottle (only one on the shelf), front looks different, and does not say Made in Germany or Made in America. It does say "Not for sale outside North America. It is API-SL, GF-3, and says meets specs of Volkswagen, BMW, Porche and Mercedes Benz. Also has an 01*** date code on the bottom. I am guessing this was the pre-GC days stuff? Sorry for the bad pics, it is my camera phone.

Is that A1-98 on the label? If so, it sounds like the N.A. stuff (ie. not SLX)

looking at the bottle and the batch number I beleive thats very old, def. not GC

Yep, it's definitely the very old US made stuff, which is gathering dust in stores all over North America.

Funny thing is they had 2 rows for Syntec 0W-30, with 1 having all GC (about 20) and then just this 1 in the other row.
