Is this a virus?

When I google something it takes me to an advertisement. Random ads of whatever will pop up instead of what I'm googling. Then its next to impossible to go back to google. Hitting the back button just gets the same ad over and over. Doesn't do this all the time but its frequent.

Yes, it is a virus. In my case, removing firefox and reinstalling it took care of the issue.

Happened to me a while back and turned out to be spyware.

Start scanning your computer as soon as possible. I use these free software you can download:

1. Spybot
2. Malwarebytes
3. Superantispyware
Update them all and run full scans.

I hope these remove all spyware but let us know if you need more help.

Should've mentioned that as well - I did full scans with F-secure (internet provider software) and Malwarebytes. Neither turned up anything in my case.
