Is there any good low temperature paint for cast iron?

Since Wagner drums aren't coated on the inside anymore, I need to paint them, but it's too cold for regular paint that requires 50F or higher. It's in the 30s now

Is there any cold temp paint that works on cast iron?

I assume brush on engine paint would work and allow you to paint inside unless the VOC's would bother you. Take one for the team. Get the velvet back and report back. Link to product on Amazon

As always, preparation is key.
Seriously, you're going to degrease (storage coatings), wash with soap and water then mask off the swept area?
Are you going to paint the outside of the drums too?

Prep the drums and bring them inside. A day inside and they will hold enough heat to paint them outside in 30f.

Warm up the clean drums in your oven to about 80 f. Step outside on the porch, spray them, bring them back inside. Another helpful trick is to warm up the aerosol cans in hot water bath.

Being in the Salt Belt, I've used a lot of different paints on drums. All of them said to paint above 50 degrees, or it won't cure properly. You're going to have to bring them inside. The above posts are very helpful ideas.

I question the need for painting also. They get coated with a layer/patina of brake dust scum and tend not to corrode much, if at all.

I hand massage a less-than paper thin layer of moly paste on the surfaces to prevent any corrosion. I'm in the road salt region.

I found this Polar spray paint that should be usable in the 30s F:

It will smell for a week

In the summer, you can use anything, as they all say 50-90F, so that's not a problem

Otherwise, I found Rust-Oleum Low Odor paint if I really need to paint indoors

When cold, use a heat gun to warm up the parts, do the paint job, and keep the heat on it till it dry's, can do that with almost any brand of spray can paint. I've had good results, can also use a small electric space heater or 2 of them. Just don't do the heat while painting only the before and after. Do it all outside on a covered porch, and maybe set them in a large box on its one side to be able to blow the heat in it.
