I don't think any conventional oils are cert. as A3/B3....especially the latter which means 'long-drain qualification'.

IMO, 40 and 50 weight conventional oils would certify as A3 even thoug not tested and advertised as such. Not sure on the B3 though....without UOA's at desired interval to verify

There is no way a cheap non-synthetic oil like Mobil DC can have ACEA A3/B3 rating. Not even close. Valvoline Durablend 10W-40 and Castrol Synthetic Blend 10W-40, commonly available at Wal-Mart, are ACEA A3 rated.

Ideally, you should look for oil that carries VW 500.00/502.00 approval. One such oil is Mobil 1 0W-40, which is now commonly availabe at Wal-Mart as well as many auto part stores. This oil can go the full length of oil change intervals specified in you owner's manual.

Mobil's web site does not say which of the european certification it is for the Drive Clean line and the bottle doesn't either. Do oils only selling in europe claim these certifications? My '96 VW VR6 requires a heavier weight(xW-40 - xW-50) during the summer and the Drive Clean 10W-40 was only .99 at WalMart.
