Hard to find any info on the new bottle. Is it a true full synthetic? I was recently reading where the ZF LIFEGUARD 8 is actually a semi synthetic. I'm going to be dropping and replacing the pan/filter so figured I'd put a true synthetic in it.

I'd think they wouldn't say that if it wasn't.
Also, imho, if your application isn't very demanding and regular Maxlife is compatible and works well then there is no need to spend more, sounds like you are on top of maintenance.

Different standards and marketing. Liqui Moly for instance isn't allowed to call most their oils a full synthetic in Germany because they are based off group III oils and are not a true synthetic. Amsoil is a true syntetic, charges for it sure, but also says it's good for 180k miles. I don't believe that either but looking at their bearing wear test for differential fluid they were the clear winner. But if the Valvoline EP is a true synthetic then I'll keep flushing with it. I do get demanding on it.

For the way that you are asking the question I’d say NO, it’s not synthetic for the way that you want a real full synthetic. However I would say that it is
Group III according to the Safety Data Sheet (Section 3) that “The Critic” has provided.

How is this question any different than when speaking to the topic of motor oil? The OP should know by now that “synthetic” is just a marketing word. Grp III is “synthetic” as far as the N.A. market is concerned. If you want a more detailed answer, then ask a more detailed question. The Critic has posted the PDS.

Been using VEP in my 6L80e since it came out but don't recall it being "MaxLife" ...
Think it's a Grp3.
And yes, I too heard ZF8 is a semi like the original Dex VI ...
Might use VEP in the 850RE post warranty ...

It’s synthetic by the definition of nearly all the world, not just North America. It’s not just a marketing term. It is synthesized.

I do know that which is why OP asked in the first place. I asked if it was a true full synthetic. There are several that are and I know many make claims in the US but really aren’t. Redline, Motul, Amsoil, so far seem to be. After seeing the results of Amsoil gear fluid I was debating if when doing this change if I should just go all in on Amsoil.

It is a true synthetic.

You might be unhappy with the composition of the synthesized base but that is a different subject.

And again it’s not just the US. Which claimed synthetics here are not synthetic?

If you want a PAO base for whatever reason get something with Allison TES-295/TES-668 spec but realize you probably don't need it.
