pretty sure that had nothing to do with my original point. my original point is mitsubishi is and has been very reliable. irregardless of their sales, outdated engineering, styling, and consumer appeal. enjoy the facts and move along.

Reliable? Anyone I have known with a Mitsu product had nothing but trouble with it. One didn't have it towed away, they used a pooper scooper.

My 02 Infiniti I35 (sister of the Maxima) is a pretty cool car. I really like the way it rides and the VQ35DE engine has plenty of power. I have the 1st gen of this engine which is prone to higher oil consumption; I don't have the problem yet at 77k miles *knock on wood.* The 4th and 5th gen Maxima's were pretty bullet proof. Back in 2002, I was considering a Nissan but the cheapo interiors of the time drew me away. When my buddy brought over his new Altima back in 2010, I was turned off by the engine noise. It was loud was very apparent in the cabin at idle. I like the new Altima design but it has little differentiation from the Maxima. I also hate how they put a CVT in the Pathfinder.

Coworker got a call from his brother; seems the tranny started slipping on his 2007 Frontier so he brought it in.
Apparently a festering problem with these vehicles is that the coolant from the radiator leaks down into the tranny cooler and roasts the tranny. Dealer said $9K to fix and flush; Nissan has an extended warranty to cover 8years or 100K miles. Vehicle has 109K miles and nissan will not cover

I really love the I35's.. Very good looking and well made car.
I have had both a 2002 Maxima and a 2002 Altima both 3.5 manual trans.. Great cars, the Maxima was better made, but the Altima had a sportier and a more interesting design, although not as well made. I never had any major problems with either of them either, but my Maxima was an oil burner, common for that year range. Ran like a top though... I love VQ engines, always will. I still want to own another one someday if I can find one I like.

The RX-8 is a tick faster than the FR-S and BRZ and it has a more roomy backseat but I don't hear anybody complaining about those cars. Fuel economy is the only place that the Scion-baru beats the RX-8. The first round of Genesis Coupe 2.0t is the same story except the RX-8 is better balanced.

I wish my 12 Frontier was built in Japan. Loving it though. The VQ40 mated to the 6 speed trans is a beast.
