About a year ago, mostly for the fun of tinkering with my 5.9 Dakota, I completely insulated my intake to the throttle body. From McMaster Carr I purchased four inch intake and one inch insulation, plumbed it into the fender well, insulated everything, air cleaner box and all. I also rapped it all with thermo tech heat barrier. Even while I was doing it I figure that after driving 1/2 hour or less the heat from the engine compartment would heat the insulation anyway. Thinking about just taking it off. Does it have any merit? Appreciate any feed back!

I had a Cold Air Intake on my car for a lil while, it was made of all metal. I drove it for about 45 miles and checked it, it was cool as can be. As long as its gettin air from outside the engine bay you should be good to go.
