I was wondering if Delvac is that much better than Mobil 1? I have be running Mobil 1 in my cars for the last 15 years. What's this Delvac craze all about??

THANKS

Delvac-1 is made by Mobil. D-1 is more shear stable then the other M1 products. It has a wide spread so it can be used year round with little in the way of compromised protection. It is 26% ester base stock. It has better deposit control as well. The AW/AF additives appear to be simpler but beefer. It has better TBN retension and seems to do a better job of controling crossion. While it would be nice to have some of the additve that are in M1 SS their is more to like about the D1.

Their are many people that would like to use D1 but the lack of good distribution and the high prices at truck stops kept it out of the hands of many! D1 has always had a following but it is growing as distribution of 5W40 SUV oil is ramping up(rebaged D1).

P.S. Because it is a 5W40 and has all of the gas and diesel rateings it can be used in everything from you Porsche to your Catapilar Earthmover!

Another thing that might not matter as much to a gasser is tremendous soot resistance.

As you probably know Delvac One 5w40 has been rebadged for more mass distribution also as Mobil One 5w40 Truck and Suv.

I have been using Mobil One a lot longer than Delvac One (700k vs 27k) since I have had the requirement for diesel type engine oil for app 1 years time. I have been doing 15k oil and filter intervals with Mobil One 5w30. Oil analysis also indicates that 15k-20k in a diesel motor are conservative.

I wonder if I can use 5w40 in my accord, which calls for 5w30 winter and 10w30 summer.

I'm currently using M1 10w30 year round.

Will affect mileage or power?

My '95 Accord specs 5-30 or 10-30, and I'm currently using Delvac 1 in it. There is no change in mileage, and it also got good mileage with 15-40 Pennzoil LL. Thicker oil doesn't h inder the F22B1.

Mobil states that the ht/hs for 15w50 is 5.11, but I didn't see one for truck and suv 5w40 does anyone know what it is? (not to steal the thread) but its a good spec to know, especially if you are going to run it in a motorcycle (at least I am).

thanks,
