In the US market, 0W-20 thin is in.

In Europe, 0W-40 is the standard bearer.

But you'll find the same car spec'd for either oil depending on the country where it sells.

To simplify, I believe I could use Castrol Edge 0W-30 in everything, whether it's a Toyota, Mazda, or BMW (not the Z4M).

GC is looking like the universal motor oil for my fleet.

No, that would be heritical.

I slipped an edit in on you there.

Let's call Castrol Edge 0W-30 almost universal for my fleet.

If all you want to own is a hammer, yeah, then everything is a nail.

Seems as misguided as the 'why don't we just use 15W-40 in everything' thread from a few years ago.

edit:almost universal means it is not. lol. j/k.

That is changing, IMO.

You could, but it'll probably be less than optimal for your Toyota and Mazda since they don't require high HT/HS oil.

What are you gaining by using only Edge 0w-30? Is it that big of an issue to stock a second oil for your Toyota and Mazda?

Can't comment on US market, but since I am in Europe I can tell you that a way to go here is 5W-40 or 5W-30.

Also, I think that Castrol sells also Edge with 5W-30 viscosity. Here is some links:
