"According to the researchers, the quality of the base oil was consistent and exceptionally high – viscosity of between 3.4 centistoke and 5.4 cSt, pour points ranging from minus 13 to minus 37 degrees C, and viscosity index of 150 to 160."

This effort reminds me of the thermal depolymerization article from a science mag, that to was mentioned on BITOG, and is being tested with handling Butterball Turkey's waste stream...remember anything into oil???? That's just it, about everything except radioactive wastes could safely be run through the system, with products such as water, minerals, and various petrol stocks resulting. Amazing, and though this may be new for Chevron's doing, it's nothing new somewhere around the world. Good news none-the-less.

The world's powers are on a collision course over existing petroleum reserves. Whether China would attempt scavenging discarded plastics for its synthesizable hydrocarbon content is speculative at best. What isn't speculative is what that country would do with the product(s) of that venture - the country needs all it could process for its own explosive industrial growth. Which is the more ominous predicament on the world scene - a communist China, or a capatalist China? (Answer: Does it really make any difference?)

Rememeber, on a global scale, communists are no different from capitalists. So no, it really doesn't make any difference.

Of course, definitions of what "communism" is vary but...... I'll be derned if I have ever heard of a real communistic-style nation-state ever existing upon the globe. All I ever see are groups of elites using various facades to blind the masses into believing that the way things are is correct, proper, and as it should be.

I can tell you this...American communists are the worst and most dangerous of all of them. Perhaps true communism is not an apt decription of Ameri-Commies as they do not believe all people should contribute to the state welfare according to their abilities. They somehow view everything on the basis of a victim/non-victim proposition where the state and others who are greedy should be totally indebted to the victim classes. The non-victim classes are not necessarily defined by race or gender but by the ability to find success on their own. For example, The University of the Peoples Republic of Kalifornia at Berkeley has discriminated against an ethnic minority (Asians) due to their propensity for success brought on by hard work. Outcome based solutions are thus the basis of American commies, generally represented by the Democratic or American Socialist party. In true communism you are supposed to give if you can, in american communism, you are supposed to take, take, take, if you can get considered part of the victim class even if you are perfectly talented and able. Brother 1911 believes there are more "active" or politically motivated communists in America than any other country including China. Most people in China are not communists but are stuck under a communist regime. I believe 30% to 50% of Americans and Kalifornians are actively seeking to have a totally socialistic/communistic situation here. 1911

So? Plastic starts as oil. Although positive news, I like the butterball depolymerization plan better.
