Insect / Ant Killer

Yep Bifen, KrisZ uses Bifen I/T I use Bifen XTS. I would guess that the only difference is water vs oil base? Anyway, I spray my yard and foundation once a year.

BTW, I live in mid Michigan so the climate should be very close to your.

I use a 3M spray painting mask when spraying.

Two of my neighbors were paying a "pro" (about $30/month each) to come and spray their houses about once a month and they still had insects in their house. One of them had a wasp nest around their garage door about a week after the guy supposedly sprayed the house. I came over with Bifen, sprayed the nest and no more wasps. Needless to say, they cancelled the service, bought Bifen and are DIYing the spraying themselves.

Thanks for your post and reading about these two products now, XTS has a higher concentration of bifenthrin 25.1% vs 7.9% and is oil based, which I think allows it to be effective longer. And that would be perfect for me.

One thing though, do you notice any stains with XTS? If it doesn't stain then that's what I'm going to get next.

I got the I/T mainly because I wasn't sure how it was going to work and it was cheaper. Now I know why XTS is more expensive so I think I'm going to go with it once the bottle of I/T runs out.

What a coincidence. I was going to ask about DIY professional grade treatments, and here it is.

Anyone have a Termidor vs. Bifen experience? Mostly have carpenter ants and termites to contend with. Haven't seen fire ants in more than a decade.

Either of these treatments good for crown spiders? I keep a lot of lights going at night to help ward off two-legged pests, but the crown spiders love to turn my lit areas into prime hunting ground.

You're right there. They don't have much of a sweet tooth.

I've seen them eat it, but not kill them like the small ants. The nice thing about the combat ant strips i posted earlier, is i has fipronil , so it gets carried back to the others.

If you use termidor or taurus, do not mix it strong, you want the ants to get back to the colony before they die, and carry the fipronil with them to the others.

The onslaught i posted, works really well for spiders, and dries clear.

I also found the Terro baits to be inaffective when dealing with carpenter/large black ants but found this product to work great.

I found it at a local Home Hardware store not far from my trailer in Marmora Ont. I put a few drops of it in a shallow lid and the large ants came running! They were killing my birch tree and digging holes into another cedar tree on my site.

This post reminds me I need to purchase some more when I head back up tomorrow.
