Lowes is going through some sort of supplier/packaging change for their Kobalt sockets and wrenches. (closeout stick made in Taiwan, new items on shelf made in Vietnam)
Another site posted about Lowes clearing out individual sockets and wrenches and it seems to be a clearance in a wide geographical area.
individual sockets are .99
Impact sockets are 2.99
wrenches including ratcheting are 4.99.
Both SAE and metric are included.
It's a nice way to pick up one off sizes.
In the general Philly area, I visited two Lowes and they had a large bin of sockets and wrenches . The displays were NOT in the back isle clearance section in my area and were instead on a makeshift table near the tool section.
The sockets are all individually bagged and they had mostly 3/8 and 1/2 drive in both common (8, 10, 12, 15 , etc) and oddball (20mm -33 mm) sizes.
I only looked at metric but the SAE selection seemed about the same.
Most sockets seemed to be 12 point but there were definitely 6 point as well.
A lot of deep sockets as well in my area.
Just a nice way to pick up some sizes and formats you might not have.
I believe this clearance is happening in Lowes in general but it probably depends on whether your Lowes stocked individual sockets and wrenches (usually in drawers) as this is what seems to be clearing out.
When does it end? Probably when they sell out of enough of the sockets to just pull from floor.
