Would there be any harm in useing a oil filter with a built in bypass on an engine with an in block bypass? The car is a 96 nissan sentra with a 1.6 engine. I want to use an amsoil eao filter, but amsoil doesn't have one for it.
I did some reserch and found the eao34 has the same thread and gasket but it has a bypass valve. Would the be any harm in useing it?

No harm...basically you end up with a redundant safety system.

If that was all that stood between me and the filter I wanted to run, I'd definately run the filter.

That's pretty much what I am thinking. I am jut concerned that if the psi setting of the in block valve is higher it might go into bypass sooner. With the hight capacity and high flow of the eao I figure that really shouldn't be much of a problem.

On a quick "think about it" deal...I can see no downside to it. The bypass valve itself adds nothing in terms of altering the filtration ability of the filter. The mechanism with the lowest setting will trump the other one
