Didn’t know it had a torque spec

I'd venture to say that every single bolt or fastener (not screws) has a torque value set by the designers/engineers. Is it actually necessary for all of them ? Probably not but it's safer to set values for all vs some.

True. Most of the time I tighten them up unless it’s something really important that has too be torqued down.

Zigactly - it always takes more to undo something than to tighten it. The number of times I've cursed some idiot for overtightening something....and then realised I was the last person to touch it, and it was torqued to spec.

Just doesn’t sound like a good idea... air ratchet maybe.. call me strange but it’s more passionate to remove and retighten a drain plug without power tools

Not because of me solely. I doubt an oil pan replacement was a drop in the bucket, but could be an indication of what their standard of service was.
