I’m still alive, don’t worry

We all thought we were invincible not so many years ago.
Getting older does suck.
Nothing bad for me yet, but with time do come afflictions.
Best wishes to all of you who are now afflicted.

53…

Just take it easy and take care of yourself..

Your circumstances ring familiar…

My step father now has to have another cardiac surgery done… The Dr from VCU noticed in his heart monitor that he was having sustained runs of atrial fibrillation with RVR… rapid ventricular response… which is obviously unstable.

He already has had a open heart surgery back in 2009 and a heart pacemaker put in place a couple of months ago

So the next surgery they are going to kill the AV node basically…

The SA node is the typical heart rate pacemaker of the heart. The AV node is next in line.

I am starting the really think at some point… There will be nothing much more can be done for my step father. And I am understanding why that could well be the case.

Glad you're out Adam!

I was just released form hospital last night. Hernia repair I had done 5 months ago failed in dramatic fashion.....

They did a CT scan and thought I had a blockage, so whisked me away to a different hospital where they determined I did NOT have a blockage. So, following up with a specialist to repair. Apparantley, it's a pretty complicated surgery.

Sigh.....
Good luck with that. They usually put those off as long as they can. Not sure why since lots of Doctors tell me there is supposed to be "nothing to it" and pretty quick to take care of. Sure they are all not the same.

I wonder what men did 100 years ago that had prostate problems? Maybe they didn’t live much past 60. Anyway, I’d bet that some cultures in some remote part of the world has figured out a natural treatment via plants, herbs, foods, etc., and etc. I can attest that the stuff advertised as “natural ingredients “ and saw palmetto does nothing.

Yeah, you were lucky to live into your 50s which was the life expectancy 100 years ago. I think why we have problems today, simply medicine now keeps us alive longer. Systems in our body will still break down but at a later age. Who draws the short stick as we get older. Im a bit concerned, I was happy that I am at an early stage but was taken back by 3 specialists concurring based on my PSA that they may not be seeing a clear cancer representation in the biopsy and that something else may going on why the Pet Scan in 2 weeks.
Then changed my designation from intermediate to high risk and assigning a score in the 8 to 10 range for severity. the scale doesnt go past 10, that shot down my idea that this was going to be a slam dunk, if there is any such thing with this type. However Im not an alarmist, Ive REALLY stayed on top of this for over 6 years now so I suspect Ill be around for a long time though the side affects of treatment will suck for most the rest of my life.

I remember even growing up in the 1960s kids in my community lost their dads do to heart attacks and such even in their 40s.
There was no such thing as stents and heart by pass surgery and stopping cancer was almost like a lab experiment. 🙁

Remember Bittogers. Enjoy your life, because some day your Check Engine light is going to come on. Rooting for you Stude.
The #1 hurdle for many people with certain medical issues is simply finding Doctors willing to do more than run tests. Sometimes it takes just living in an area where the right Doctors and medical facilities are the ones you need. Good luck to Stude.

Seems like I've been going-in for various procedures in the past decade. I don't wish those times on anyone.
The main thing is to get fixed and get / stay healthy once again. I always recovered within several weeks, so nothing major got broke.... so-to-speak.

Wishing you good health for this last month of December and the entire 2025 Adam. No best friends losses too.
May everyone you know and cherish remain healthy.

I do feel lot better. Sleep 1000 times better too. I’m down a total of 49.2lbs since early 2024.
