I tried search button but lots of info about ignition coil but do not know is this should be changed every two or three years.

My dealer says change it when it's bad.
I do have distributor and ignition coil.

What do you guys suggest?

I had my old car 86 olds 98 with over 200K. I never changed ignotion coil. just for info.

Ignition coils are not a maintenance item. You only replace them if they fail to produce the proper spark.

On a car with a distributor, cap, rotor, plugs and wires are the maintenance items. On distributorless, it's just plugs and wires. On coil-over-plug engines, there's not even any wires.

They don't have a traditional coil, but rather individual "coil packs" two for each cylinder(on Magnavox systems they are molded into one piece), they generally hold up better then a normal coil, perhaps because they have less work to do.

Thanks for advice. I just cancelled my order from gmpartsdirect.com. They have a nice service and price. But no phone call.

Each coil from dealer costs $65. So I saved 65x3 over $200 and from gmpartsdirect I saved $110.

Thanks to you guys.

If it's a GM app, rockauto.com will also have ACDelco parts for cheap. don't fix what aint broke though.

I agree with you.

My car is 94 olds 88 LSS with 155K.

Everything is original except spark plug, spark plug wires, radiator water and steering fluid, break fluid too.
