So is Honda finally going to sell this thing? It's only been waiting in the wings for several years.

If they do, it has lights and mirrors, so it should be street legal. Whereas the H2R has no lights or mirrors, doesn't meet emissions regulations, and is a track-only bike.

From what I'm hearing the street legal H2, is drastically de-tuned from it's H2R stable mate, weighs significantly more than current liter class Sportbikes, (525 lbs. wet) and is kind of a disappointment after the hype of the H2R.

The Kawasaki's Motor of Death may be fast but where on earth will a 300HP motorcycle prove
that??? it can't be fastest on the street because it comes with slicks and ain't street
legal... it can't be fastest on the track because superchargers aren't legal for road
racing... that leaves Bonneville and Pikes Peak...

If Honda don't I will be the first to give them stick but keep in mind
Honda's race bred V4 4 strokes were never designed to be affordable
for the masses... because if you want affordability Honda will sell
you a CBR street bike... Honda's race bred V4s are design to be a
affordable race platform in 3 different venues WSBK IOM and World
Endurance... the limited number to homologate for racing WSBK is 500
World Wide... MotoGp has no current homologation rule...

NSR500V was last pure race Gp machine Honda offered to the public in
1996... it was a serious gesture to help fill the shrinking Gp grid in the
premier class... my friend Stephen in the UK sold his RC45 and now owns a
2001 spec NSR500V...

The "stupidly expensive" ones the press dubbed during their respective
releases... perhaps now they don't seem so stupid or expensive???

1990 RC30 $15K (currently worth $20 to $35K)
1994 RC45 $27.5K (currently worth $26 to $29K)
1996 NSR500V $100K (currently worth $68K)
2015 RC213VS about $250K USD

1996 NSR500V

Larry,

I never said anything about the cost of the RC213VS.

I only stated: Is Honda finally going to sell this bike?

True but I wanted to get the first perspective thoughts up on the board on the subject of cost...

On another board it was said that they would build 213 of them and that they were going to be in excess of 200 Euro.

I'd certainly ride one a short distance given the chance, but my old shoulders and lower back are screaming out in pain just looking at it...

Frankly, I'd like to see something a little more attainable...

I hear ya.
My harley is as comfortable as my lazy-boy,and it fits one of them upper chest heavy round bottomed girls on the back to boot.
I like to ride fast sometimes but as I've gotten older I'm not in a hurry anymore, and enjoy a slow ride

I never ride in hurry for it will kill you... It just feels right to double the posted limits for a given corner on Mr.RC45...

I would kill for a chance to ride an rc213v. Although I have a Honda V4 (vfr800) I seriously doubt that it can hold a candle to that beastie. Drool!!!!!!!!!!! Also, I pray for Honda to build a consumer version of the RCV1000R. Oh well.

Aprilia RSV4 is their homologatetd racer... if you want "everyday practicality" I think you want their V4 Tuono...

175HP, 88 lb-ft of torque, a killer electronics package, and an MSRP under $15k. Definitely worth consideration.
