Many people are afraid to change 'weights' for their vehicles, quoting useless factory owner's manuals. The pint of Lucas will thicken up the fluid while the 'scared by the OE manual' owner is still using the 'required' weight.
I don't think changing weights is going to be a huge issue. I would say that if you're going to do it, use a nice thick motor oil and not something that doesn't appear to have any sort of formulated additive pack. Myself, I am a 20 weight guy now, like it or not, since I have 2 new hondas that I took out mondo warranties on. I'm not giving them an excuse to deny me anything.
