I just tried Jescar Power Lock Plus Polymer Sealant

Yeah :(.....sounds like from what I'm reading the Jescar + is outdated. Oh well... The Collinite 845 is on it's way ( Yay) ! Hopefully the combo of the Jescar + and Collinite 845 will be give added protection to my cars. BTW, how do you add cars under you're " name". ? I see lots of posts with a bunch of cars listed under the thread starter's name.

I respectfully disagree “…the Jescar + is outdated….”

I have found the Jescar Plus ULTRA to not shine and last as long. Not so with the Power Lock Plus.

However, my detailing steps of :

Wash
Clay
Pinnacle Advanced Finishing Polish or Menzerna Fine Polish
Jescar (Menzerna) Power Lock Plus

The directions (I know, we’re males, so who needs to read the directions?) says to leave the Power Lock Plus on the paint for at least thirty minutes.

I leave it on for one hour, then remove it.

Twenty four hours later a second “layer” can be applied, if you want.
I use Collonite 845 over the Power Lock Plus and I get great results.

And it lasts me one full year.

Garaging that SUV and mostly handwashing obviously helps the longevity of the detailing work.

Your mileage and durability may vary.

Thank you for you're input ! ( I'll take any input since I'm relatively new at at this fancy new stuff . I'm getting old and branching out to different areas of car maintenance). The Toyota in question is a 2003 Solara, that was handed down to me. I pretty much restored the mechanical end of things myself. Now focusing on the body/paint. Been outdoors it's entire life. That's 22yrs. NOW it's garage kept. I did the clay before I sprayed on ceramic coating. Clay worked well, go all the junk out of the paint, then sealed it with Adams Advanced Graphene Ceramic Spray Coating. Then went ahead with the Jescars Plus Ultra. Did not do a second layer of Jescar's. Now I will. Then I will use the Collinite 845 over that. Just trying to preserve what's left of the OE paint ( which is in pretty good shape for being outdoors for 22 yrs in NY, and being bombarded by road salt) The car was built in Canada, sold in USA. The amount of undercoating Canada installed is INSANE. Not a spot of rust on / or under the car. I will follow you're guideline's to a " T'.....Thank you for helping out " an old school / old timer " Very much appreciated :) ! ( Although, I still miss my younger days of Turtle Wax, brillo on whitewalls, and getting a tan waxing my 72' Oldsmobile Cutty in the sun. LOL :).....Maybe I can jump in a DeLorean and go " Back to the Future ! " Thanks for all you're help.

Well, it's 22yr old paint that's been outside it's whole life. I don't think Jescar Power Lock + is gonna cut the mustard for an extended period of time. To my amazement, the clearcoat is still in decent shape. I lathered on the Collinite. Now time will tell how much longer it beads up. It's garaged now, so that will help tremendously. I'm retired, where do I go ? Doctor appt's and supermarkets. Waiting for the ball and chain to get her pension/retire. Then we sell the house, and get the heck out of NY. She's runnin a 13' CRV with 614,874 miles on it,, back and forth to work. Thankfully, work is not far away. That CRV is on borrowed time. She hates the 03' Jescar Solara & refuses to drive it.... Only has 128k on it,,,and gets better gas mileage !!!.....She says it's too low, 2 door, no back up camera, and makes turns like a cruise ship. Well, the Solara is good enough for me. Anyway, I maintain both of them. Seems that the CRV needs more TLC than that Solara ...That CRV eats batteries,,,gets so hot under the hood.....Anyway,,,. Happy wife, happy life, what more could you say :)

If you retire to almost any retirement friendly state from NY you will save enough in taxes to buy a new carm

That's the plan. I've been retired since 22'. 36yrs at the local Utility Company ( Con-Ed) Between working on cars for 47yrs ,,,,and 36 yrs Gas Construction,,,my back is destroyed. Nursing my 2nd disc replacement now. I was 6' when I was in my 40's. now I'm 5'6" @ 58 yrs old. My discs are degenerating. Anyway, that's the plan. Sell the house in NY,,,and move to a retirement friendly state. Wife has 9 more years to go till she gets her pension from the school district. Taxes in NY are ridiculous,,,but the housing market prices are very stable and high. So, I'll putz around in the yard, cut the grass, maintain our cars, play on BITOG forum, etc. Then, we go bye bye :)

Oh, and buy new cars when we get to our retirement state. Probably will only need one car anyway. It'll be just us two dummies. Gonna need 2 TV's ( one for the old man cave ) :) LOL !!!!!!

My brother retired from Con Ed in 2023 IIRC. He left NY so fast my head spun.

LOL !!!!!! :) Most of the people that do retire from Con-Ed have a plane waiting for them at the front gate of the yard they worked out of :)......Unfortunately, I didn't have that option. Have a 13yr old in the school system now, gotta wait till she graduates H.S.,,,then still gotta wait a bit more for the wife to get her pension. It's my fault. 2nd wife. 9yrs younger than me. She wanted a kid. ( Thankfully no kids from the 1st disaster ) LOL...I made my bed, gotta sleep in it now :(

Jescar Power Lock+ is actualy a very good paint sealant but its very selective on the condition of the clear coat. When using product like this the paint must be prepped meaning clear of surface contaminets. the polymers in the sealant need a clean clearcoat so the bonding takes effect if its not clean its laying on what ever stuff is on the clearcoat and will dissipate fast I use Jescar for my winter protection from salt I clay then polish the paint then a wipe down of some thing like panel prep. Then I apply the sealant wait 30-45 minutes and wipe off the next day I apply a second coat. during the winter I just waterless wash it and apply Duragloss Aquawax now its still beads up nice and all I have done since May is a hand wash nothing else and still beads up water nice

EDIT

I am sorry I meant the Ultra Lock + not the power lock +

IMO the Ultra Lock+ has slightly better shine, and significantly more durability. Ease of application was essentially equal for me. I think it's worth the extra cost.

Jescar Ultra Lock + has ceramic properities added to it for additional protection and longevity. Jescar Power lock + does not have ceramic in it. I'm not a detail expert, but I would imagine the Ultralock would last longer due to the ceramic.

I've been a bit disappointed with the Jescar Ultralock + I used on my DD this year. It really seems like it hasn't lasted at all and its only been 2 months even with two coats. Its shiny yes, but the rain etc really seems to spot it up worse then anything I've tried in the past from wax to sealants. Water doesn't bead and come off like with stuff I've used in the past on the same car. I polished the car with Sonax Perfect Shine (which I also didn't like vs the EX 04-06 I used before.) I have this big honkin' jug of UL+ so will apply it again in the fall, but not sure if I'll keep it...

On a previous post,, I was told to use Jescar Ultra Lock +. That alone will last 2 months. But, if I added Collinite 845 OVER the Ultra Lock, the protection will be extended to 9 months. I haven't tried it yet. Back surgery put that on the back burner for now. But in a few months, when I recover/ heal/ whatever, Going to give it a shot. The Collinite 845 is just sitting on the shelf in the garage, for now. But, you can try it, and see if it works for you :)

In some posts people suggest Power Lock + or Ultralock + then some wax like Collinite 845 over it. What about a second coat of Power Lock + or Ultra Lock +?

I’ve done both……..

Power Lock Plus followed by Collinite 845 twenty four hours later. I’m quite pleased with the durability and shine.

More so than when I used Power Lock + Ultra.

I have also detailed using two thin coats of Power Lock Plus, again, twenty four hours apart.

Properly preparing the paint before using the sealant goes a long way in achieving durability.

Sure, from what I've read on the bottles, you can double up on either one for longer lasting results. But in the end, it's all about the prep work for the product to work at it's best. Clay bar the paint, and all the stuff that goes with it. That's the hard part. My particular problem is old paint. 22 yrs old. I don't think whatever I do will make the job last a long time. It's in decent shape, but lets face it, it's paint that's been outdoors it's entire life. I'll protect what I can. Car not worth a new paint job. It's a garage queen now anyway, so that will help.

In my case the guy who does the detailing will do the surface prep and the first coat. The next day it would up to me to apply the second coat of something.

I am all for long lasting protection vs showroom shine.
