I just bought a new 07 Toyota Prerunner yesterday. Nice truck so far. Rides much better than the older Prerunners. The 6 speed manual transmission seems a little notchy, but it will get better with age(I hope).

I do have 1 question though. The brake pedal seems a little soft for my liking. I went back to the dealership and talked to the service manager about this and he said that the Tacoma's have a new for 07 braking system and that is really the way it is. He drove it and said it was normal.

I think I recall some Toyota tech's on this board and would like to have some imput from them, or anybody else that has driven one of these vehicles. It just seems way too soft for my liking

Pablo,
The manual says to use API GL-4 or GL-5, SAE 75w-90 in the transmission. Rear locking differential calls for GL-5 with limited slip additive, 75w-90.

After break and assuring the warranty "kinks" are settled out - if the funky shifting stays or gets worse, I would drain the tranny of the current conventional diff oil and replace it with a purpose made synthetic GL-4 75W-90 MT oil such as: Amsoil MTG

Congrats on the new Taco. I have an O6 having stepped up from an 02 it's a lot nicer. The break feel will eventually become somehting that you adjust to. My wifes 06 4 runner has a completely differnt break feel and it takes a bit of adjustment when going from one to the other.

Another noticeable difference is throttle pedal sensitivity. The 4 runner requires less input than the taco. Ultimately I prefer driving the Taco because it has a more stable ride and predictable performance curve rather than the 4 runner that seems a little bit high strung and sensitive to breaking inputs (less weight and rear disk probably).

The 1GRFE engine is a dream to change oil and filters on.

Enjoy the New truck.

Thanks for the info everyone. I would post some pics but I don't really know how. Just never got around to learning how to do it. After my teenage son left, there went my only chance. Someday, I will learn.......

Enjoy your new toy...Ive enjoyed every minute of my Taco since buying it new in 2002 and with 70K on her now the felling is still there.

Since we're posting pictures of Tacomas...

Congrats on the purchase of your '07. You'll enjoy changing oil on that engine...

Your new truck looks really nice

I recommended the exact same '06 Taco to a friend of mine, who's really happy with his purchase as well. Funny coincidence, his was black too

The only difference is that his is the 2-seater without alloys.

I suffered through the seats of my '02 so I went for the package that gave me the best seats in my 06(TRD package's have the better seats). Much better. (I'm getting older and realizing that I appreciate driving in comfort, even if I am hauling rocks or toys in the back)

I love the composite bed, I have hauled loads of decomposed granite, Flagstone, Chop Block, Mulch dirt and composts and I uses a Rake to pull the Gravely and dirt like substance out. Nothing to rust no scratches in paint, no dents in the sheet metal of the bed from the heavy rocks. Yeah, I have chipped some paint on the tailgate from unloading the bed with my wheel barrow and garden tools but its a truck! The 6 disc CD and upgrades stereo is a creature comfort I also enjoy.

Life's to short to suffer in coach.
