The AutoRx came in the mail today, DHL shipped it via USPS.

I had the oil changed in my Trooper with the bottom dollar Pennzoil, installed a Mobil1 "Extended Life" oil filter, and then I put in the stuff.

So far, the Trooper's running strongly with the cheap, fresh oil. Can't wait to see if the lifter noise will subside.
Wish me luck!

Why did you go with a pricey oil filter?

I would have thrown a SuperTech or BOGO AAP filter on there (for both stages, in fact).

Just habit, I guess.
Also, the Mobil1 claimed that it filtered @ 99.1% efficiency.
Since this stuff's going to be depositing more dirt than normal in the filter I figured a filter with twice the media as normal would be good.

Try a Wix/Napa Gold for the rinse. Keep the rinse oil very simple. Supertech or Superflo is more than good enough.

I'll echo the others: good luck. It's been an effective product in my experience.

Don't feel bad about anything.

I use Penzoil Platinum for both the clean and the rinse phases, as well as M1 EP filter on the rinse.

I thought it was forbidden to use any synthetic with auto rx as it will negate its effect.

Frank says you can use either, but recommends conventional oil because it apparently doesn't "get in the way" of the cleaning process. Perhaps synthetic can have a countering effect in the process by trying to clean the AutoRx?

It's good to hear of another Isuzu-an; what year's your Trooper?

Have a '97 Rodeo myself, with 166k miles on the 3.2L V6 - just did a UOA on Maxlife 5w-30 with fantastic results.

Haven't used AutoRx myself. Let me know how it's working for you?

Auto-rx NEEDS conventional oil (or a "synthetic" lacking polar molecules) for the rinse phase.

Synthetics can be used during the first cleaning phase, but I wouldn't go so far as to purchase an expensive product for a whopping 1500 mile interval.

'Sup, mane? '93 Trooper, 3.2L V6, SOHC, 4WD, 93K miles, bought @ 72K 2.5 years ago. Bad lifter noise. Strong engine otherwise. Immaculate interior. Paint on roof and hood badly oxidized, unrepairable. An excellent vehicle, in my opinion.

Group III synthetics do not pose an issue, or so Frank says, but I think it's still not recommended to use Group IV or V for the rinse phase. Though they will still work, you may just need to extend drain interval out to 3,000 miles with Group IV and V synthetics.

Do you plan on cutting the oil filter open to see if any crud was removed by the ARX ??

I am also currently using ARX in an old Honda and I am curious how much stiff will be trapped by the oil filter.

My theory on Auto-RX oil choice is this, by using a cheaper, say SuperTech oil during the cleaning phase, that may allow the polar componenents of the Auto-RX more access to the metal for cleaning. I am assuming that a regular oil in the 5W-30 or 10W-30 grade will have a minimal additive package to suit this purpose and will also flow well to get the cleaning started quickly. For those worried about engine protection while running a dino oil, remember that the ARX has some esters in it that are there primarily to boost engine protection during this cleaning phase. I am also convinced that to get better than average results, you need to drive the car out on the road some and get the engine working a little and rpms up some (road trip). Short trips around town are not going to get the engine as clean, in my opinion.

Then on the rinse phase, I like to use HDEO 15W-40 for all its detergency/dispersants to get all that loosened and disolved crud outta there and hopefully into the filter or out the drain plug later. In cold weather I probably would not use 15W-40 unless taking a trip south to Florida for the rinse cycle.

Sounds like a good idea.
