Actually, I don't. Because of noise at work, a nagging wife and noisy children, and because of a loud hobby, my hearing is not what it used to be. What mobile phone has extremely clear reception? Usually it all sounds garbled to me and I have to ask the other person several times to speak up and repeat. My doctor told me I simply don't hear certain frequencies well at all.

If you're missing frequencies you need a hearing aid to re-tone the audible spectrum to those frequencies you can still hear. They don't just make stuff louder.

I would put this off as long as possible, as you're just going to blast what little tendrilly hairs are left in your ears.

I think you'd look good with a bluetooth earpiece.

Might even help.

I really think I need to use both ears. Are there cell phones that can be equipped with headphones?

Time to get a hearing aid while they can still be useful. A properly mapped hearing aid from an audiologist can be a great aid to understanding in most situations.

+1

Naw, my doctor said I didn't need a hearing aid. I'm not nearly deaf. My wife agrees. She says I simply never listen.

There's no way I will insert anything into my ear, be it a hearing aid or a blue tooth device!

Not to say anything about your doctor, but they're not qualified to diagnose hearing loss. A certified audiologist (either with ASHA's CCC-A or by American Association of Audiology) is the only person capable of diagnosing hearing loss. They're the only folks I'd trust telling me about hearing loss and options to remediate.

While your doctor "might" know a bit about hearing loss, there are folks whose whole career is hearing loss. I'd consult one of them to figure out your hearing situation, and options for remediation. Getting an audiogram done will tell you for sure what your hearing is doing.

So why did you start this thread ??

I read your profile and it says you are a "controller".... my wife says I'm a controller too.

He's an ear specialist. And no, I don't suffer from hearing loss. I just don't hear some frequencies all that well.

I wanted a recommendation for a cell phone that had crystal clear reception. Clear as a bell, without squealing and crackling.

Thanks for the clarification. So you are seeing an ear-nose-throat doc who specializes in ears, who is qualified to make that assertion. Some general-medicine docs really don't know diddly about ears and hearing loss.

Sounds like you should go to your wireless carrier's store and test a bunch of phones until you find one you like, and one with the strongest reception in the areas you use it the most. If you look for the "M" ratings for how well they work with hearing aids, the higher the "M" number the better it works with hearing aids. I'm guessing that would mean a better speaker. However, I'm not sure on that.

Many phones have a jack for wired headsets/mics. Wireless, like bluetooth, tend to lose too much fidelity/clarity/volume/range... Visit bestbuy.
