I found a store with a small supply of M1 15w50 TriSynthetic.

It's my understanding the older TriSyntetic is a better formulation than the newer SuperSyn. This stuff is probably at least two years old.

Should I buy it, or just stick with the newer stuff?

I would go with the newer SS.

Believe it or not, my local Walmart still has some Advanced Formula 15w50 Mobil 1 left! This is the formula before TriSynthetic! Nobody buys this viscosity up here.

No it is the other way around! Mobil 1 SS is a much better oil then the Tir-syn was for many reasons

. Do a search on the 2 and get ready for a little reading!

The Advanced Formula is likely better than both.

SH allowed more felxibilty with the additive package ( ZDDP) and the areas where SL improved (volatilty etc) the AdvFor would all exceed them by far anyway.

I wish I could find some 15w-40 Adv Formula M1.

Can someone do a VOA on some 15W-50 Advanced Formula? I don't ever recall seeing that oil.....I don't even know what the label looks like. It would be nice to see the additive package on the older formulas.
