I drove my first electric - 2025 BMW i4 M50

Yeah, that's the thing I don't like. It would be way too distracting to me. I want to focus on the road and all the maniacs on it.

I can certainly understand how some people would find it distracting. I for one prefer physical buttons, but we know that’s the thing of the past with that said BMW has retained more than it’s fair share versus some others

I feel @tcp71 comment about something being slapped on is inaccurate, unless he actually sat in the car then, of course his point is valid as he sees things.

The display is one thing of many I loved about the car. To me it doesn’t look slapped on and trust me on this. I hate the iPad look on many cars. This BMW display to me personally is gorgeous, integrated along the lines of the dashboard.

The BMW display is one long curved LED display oriented toward the driver. Sitting in the driver seat versus photos that you see taken from different angles could lead one to the wrong impression.

That’s not to say we don’t have differing opinions, but I would stress not to make judgments based on photos.

That was to point out how much of a problem I think the new Mercedes interiors are in their EVs. I much prefer this BMW, but I also understand that many would not like the BMW's interior either. To me I think the BMW has the right balance. It reminds me a lot of VW's screen layout and I've come around to that. It seems to be the method Cadillac has adopted too.

I know one thing; control arms on BMW don’t snap in half, unlike on “some” vehicles.

Now, when you issue recall bcs. 83 vehicles that means there is QC in place.
Guess which company didn’t issue recall?

Pay attention on design and thickness of upper control arm on Cybertruck!
Compare that to regular X5 G05 which is MUCH lighter vehicle.

Have you actually read it?
The control arm on my dad’s Lancia also broke. The boulder fell from the hill and hit the front wheel.
It takes time to make something more than a hair dryer. Wait few decades. Tesla will get there, eventually, maybe.

All control arms can brake from impact. Only on Tesla they fold bcs. sheet metal.

I hope all automakers start making regular cars that just happen to be an EV. I’ve owned a leaf and it was a great commuter. I really hoped VW improved the e-Golf instead of switching their design language with the id series.

Most of those posts I list are not from impact..

and btw I have had a few hardcore impacts in to curbs or large debris in the road in bad weather and never broken a control arm.

not hit many times.. a few times over many , many years in torrential downpours where I used to live and had to be on the road for work.

So my son took a short trip and decided to top off the BMW. He stopped at a Ford dealer with a high speed charger. Ironically, there was a Ford Mustang there that owner had trouble, the charger was not recognizing the Mustang. His BMW had no problem.
