That's pretty good. My daughter graduated from Appalachian State, App State for short. FWIW, when pronouncing the college the third 'a' always has a short vowel sound. Though, the trail can be be pronounced either way, third 'a' long or short. As for the Gov, I'd say it's karma. The State newspaper in Columbia has been all over the story.
