"Six collisions and two injuries have been linked to the flaw, as are 87 consumer complaints received by Hyundai."

So... it's safer than a Cobalt.

Not even close to the same numbers on the road. If Hyundai had sold half the Cobalts Chevrolet did then it might just be a silly instead of ludicrous comparison.

Rounded off Chevrolet has sold about 1,147,000 Cobalts since 04. Hyundai sold about 50k units in this model.

Playing those odds the Cobalt is a LOT safer!

Get ready for a flood of recalls for at least the next few years, from all automakers ... to avoid fines such as this.

A fine well-deserved. These companies need to know their deep pockets can't hide or delay doing the right thing. Social Media will always burn them.

So now we're arguing the lesser of two evils?

Hope you don't ever bet any money. Those are great odds, implying that the H is safer is completely incorrect.

Not even close...

...cost of doing business. They're not going to quit. They'll still hold the same profit margin so their customers might be the ones paying the fine.

Cobalt (and Ion) deaths are currently estimated to be 13.

Genesis? 0.

^^^You must have failed statistics? 50,000 total cars?

If Chevy had only sold 50 thousand Cobalts then I could see your fixation, but the NUMBERS are significant.

Four of the drivers involved in the eleven fatal accidents linked to GM's faulty ignition switches were impaired by drugs or alcohol. Another driver was observed having a seizure!

Seven of the fatalities weren't even wearing their seatbelts!

Maybe you could make a case for Hyundai's drivers being smarter than GM's clients, but that's about it...

hahaha, no problem, man! Frankly the sales numbers are laughable, too. Our neighbor has the super duper genesis type R sedan with the 429 very small horses under the hood. I dusted him so bad he turned the key thinking his car had stalled!

There's definitely something wrong with the way Hyundai estimates its power ratings.
They must be taking a page out of the book of the Italians.

Then again, maybe the same team that estimates their fuel economy numbers are also the same ones who estimate the hp ratings.

This is actually a good point, if you read the details of many accidents involving the Cobalt the drivers were in their teens and early 20's - prime candidates for a low cost car like the Cobalt. The Genesis driver is typically going to be older, more mature and more responsible of a driver.
