Its like $20k, the size of the Kia Soul, and i don't see it being worth the extra money. If you do spend the extra money go a little further and get the Tucson. It seems like a size and price that nobody really needs. its brand new so it wont have as good of incentives as the other options. I don't understand this new segment of really compact "suv" cars.

These little CUVs are a dream come true for the automakers. All these things are based on the subcompact platforms that basically don't sell. Now they can sell about $10k worth of vehicle, that only sat on the lot in the past, for only $20k and people are praising them for it.

Yep. The Encore is Buick's number one seller. And there is hardly any room at all after the rear seats in that vehicle.
 
The one thing I hate about all these new crossovers is, they're marketed as having light off road ability, BUT, the noses get longer and lower to the ground which negates any ability to do any kind of light trail driving in my neck of the woods; my Corolla has about 2 inches more front bumper clearance than most of the new mini crossovers which makes them useless to get into some of the fishing locations I can get to in yes, my old Toyota Corolla!!!

If they made the Kia Soul AWD, it might make for the perfect CUV because it does have good ground clearance and approach angle. The nose is short and higher off the ground.

Maybe not an issue for 95% of CUV buyers, but for someone who doesn't need nor want a truck or full size SUV, it is an issue.

Ground clearance and approach angle make for worse fuel economy and worse handling, something automakers in the 21st century generally don't design for, especially on products intended to spend 98-99% of their miles on the road. .....
Buuuut you know toyota, they gotta built a little 4x4 soul into everything they build, even their FWD open diff entry level cars... amirite?

The CH-R, with which the Kona competes, is strictly an on-road product.
