I never have found out what the newer Hyundai / Kia 2.4L non - turbo GDI engines used as a factory fill oil weight - anyone know ? ... I understand many Hyundai / Kia service centers use 5W30 so they can cover turbo & non - turbo engines without risk , however what about new non - turbo engines from the factory - venture to guess 5W20 of some sort ? ... Lastly , does Hyundai / Kia use a special high moly content oil as a factory fill as some Japanese auto makers use ? Thanks in advance ...

Not sure anyone knows for sure.

With that in mind, I've been told that it's just Quaker State in whatever viscosity is recommended in your owners manual (recommended- not allowed, ie: my owners manual recommends 5W-20 but allows 5W-30, therefore it comes with 5W-20). No special high moly content oil, though I'd imagine it does have quite a bit of moly in it from assembly lubes. Take it for what it's worth.

I posted an article in the Oil News section and it talks about Hyundai expanding their operations with Shell for their factory fill's. I would imagine because they recommend Quaker State in their owners manuals and I see delivery trucks with the Quakerstate logo visiting our local dealers here that it's most likely Quaker State. When I did my UOA on my 2006 Santa Fe factory fill it didn't show high levels of moly in it. But this was quite some time ago.

This^^^

I doubt Hyundai would use anything but SOPUS with such a comprehensive agreement (shared by StevieC).
As for KIA, I haven't a clue. Total is the official aftermarket oil supplied under contract but the marketing literature doesn't say anything about FF...

Thanks - I assumed 5W20 Quaker State Syn Blend or conventional to be FF (nothing special) .

Being 5w20 and 30 is available in conventional that's your factory fill.
