From various viscosity to only 0W-20 for the NA and 0W-30 for the turbo
From 7500 normal service to 8000 miles
From 3750 severe service to 5000 miles

No mention of the infamous ACEA A5 "or above"

Requires Synthetic SN Plus or above (SP). If not synthetic, severe service schedule must be used.

Is till think engineers got confused around ACEA. So they went with a trusted approach: "Less is more." :)

Engineers or marketing. LOL. Some people seem to think engineers have little to do with OM motor oil recommendations

Buying 7 quarts gives you some leftover for the excessive oil consumption in the future 🤣

I wonder if full synthetic will save the Theta-III(Smartstream) engines?????

Compare to their lemonade ThetaII
2.4GDI conventional 5w20, 5w30, 10w30
3750 mile severe service
7500 mile normal service

2.0T conventional 5w30, 5w40, 15w40, 20w50,
3000 mile severe service
5000 mile normal service
2.0T also got an initial early break-in oil/filter change

My take on this.... someone at Hyundai is 'hoping' that synthetic oil is the fix for the bean counting accountants' floggings of the manufacturing engineers!

So, use 0w20 for both engines here:

And, use 0w30 for the 2.5T here:

Can Hyundai get their oil recommendation correct for once? or build an engine that works with the US consumer?

It's worked for us just fine.
6 H/K vehicles
2 kept long enough to reach over 100k
Current SFS 2.0T over 230k

Sorry you had a poor experience with yours.

Curious about the overseas manuals.
