We have an old ('59 I think) Hyster H60 forklift at work. Hydraulic fluid leaks like a sieve when under load, and looks like used motor oil. We're going to change it, but what do these things take? Will a normal (AW46) hydraulic fluid be ok? Not sure if it doubles as tranny fluid, in which case I guess a multi purpose tractor fluid would be the best bet. Tough to find information on these old machines. Thanks guys.

Most Hyster's use Tractor hydraulic/trans fluid in the trans and hydraulic, and when they have a separate compartment for the hydraulic oil it is AW46.

GL-5 85W-140 in the differential if it is separate.

When in doubt on old equipment, I use UTF. It'll work just fine as hydraulic fluid, and avoid clutch/brake chatter when necessary.
