Hybrid Corolla - Death Knell for Prius?

The CVT used in the Prius (and the other Toyota Hybrids) is completely different than the CVT used in the Corolla and other gas powered vehicles. There is NO drive belt used in any of the Toyota Hybrid CVTs, it is an entirely planetary gear driven transmission.
Toyota will not manufacture a Corolla Hybrid. If someone wants a Hybrid car that is larger than a Prius they can just step up to a Camry Hybrid.
Sales of the Prius may be down right now, but when the gas prices skyrocket again, Prius sales will be back with a vengeance. Toyota is not going to pull a GM/Ford mistake and discontinue it.
For now, Toyota needs to restyle the Prius if they want to sell them, they are Godzilla ugly IMO!

Hasn't repelled Uber and Lyft drivers from buying/leasing them even though the Sonata has made inroads into Uber and Lyft. Cabbies aren't buying the 4th gen Prius since few of them are making it to the auctions.

With TNGA, Toyota should make a Prius Sport/XRS in the same vein as the Corolla/Matrix XRS of ten years ago - cram the 2.5L A25A-FKS engine from the Camry into the newly-released AWD Prius and give it a small lift, or if they really wanted to make Akio Toyoda happy, a turbo GRMN(Gazoo Racing Masters of the Nurburgring) edition.
