Do we really need HVI hydraulic oil in tropical climate? What are the benefits of changing from mineral to HVI since PMA shears & breakdown? Thanks

Dunno...

we've got a high shear application on site (big variable speed fluid couplings), where an ISO32 HVI oil becomes an ISO24 in short order.

As to straight hydraulics, we don't have any areas that are critically timed, so we stick with straight mineral.

for highest effienceny (spelling) a high vis oil is needed say a 69 or 100 grade BUT at startup or low temps that oil would be way to thick, so we now have shear stavble polymers that allow a ISO 100 at working temps that is still "thin" at start up at low temps. Now if youer systems runns all the time a ISO 100 would be a good oil to use.
