Husqvarna plants closing down, laying off 2000

Buyers are ready for this shift to a certain extent. None of these suppliers would be doing any of this if there were no buyers. We can belly ache all we want but this is called evolution. I'm not saying there won't be any road bumps along the way though. It may be bumpy but I'm ready for it myself. Actually, I've been ready. I bought my first 20v dewalt weed eater when they first launched, back in 2015, but it was way under powered & I had way too much to weed wack. However, It will be nice if they can focus on making those areas better over the years. Husqvarna has been around for hundreds of years & I doubt they plan to go belly up anytime soon. It's a sad day to see so many loose their jobs but we can hope that as time goes on they'll rehire when it really takes off.

I honestly do not like any of this being forced down our throats. How about innovate, and offer both so we as consumers can decided when we are comfortable with electronic planned obsolescence.

Make no mistake there will be a BCM (Battery Control Module) that will determine when the battery cannot be used any longer even if it has sufficient power.

Im confused why those plants were not retooled and the employees cross trained. Does the CEO need a 47th vacation home in some obscure island somewhere with the money saved?

That's true. It is not enough money to be worth the effort. But as I've mentioned before, meritocracy is involved. Reliable, capable, non-criminal employees are rarely stuck at such low wages.

$15 x 40 hours = $600/week
Rent is $1500+/month in many areas, so that kind of income only works if housing is subsidized. Or a person has several roomies.

When corps can pay workers less, give little to no benefits, and abuse the workers and environment in some other countries it is easy to see why. Max profit knows no loyalty.

BTW, the average UPS "full time" worker makes $49.50 per hour. The idea that companies can retain good employees at $15 is LONG, LONG in the past.
That’s the average. One of the gripes was warehouse workers make under $20 and don’t get full time hours. Yes no one is going to stay at $15/hr long. It’s for 18 year olds starting out living at home or with roomies.
