HUD -- anyone use/like them?

Anyone use a HUD (heads-up display) on a car here? I might have the option of adding one, from a wreck, to my 14-year-old car for not a lot of money.

What's your opinion of them? Just another distraction, a cool feature, or just another gimmick to try and sell some cars?

I have it on my 99 GTP and when I drive my wife's 04 Maxima without the HUD from my car I'm lost as I'm SO used to looking ahead for my speed, etc. LOL

If it was me and I could have it on another car for cheap I would do it. If you have it done you'll see what I'm talking about after you drive with it for awhile.

I had one on my 97GTP but when I traded that car for something else I didn't find myself missing the HUD.

My 98 Corvette didn't come with one, it wasn't optional on the C5 until 1999. I honestly don't miss it.

We had a '90 Maxima that had it and I thought it was pretty cool, but I can't say I had much of an opinion of it either way in terms of functionality. We sold that car and I've never thought, "I wish I had HUD", since then.
