I had a previous analysis done at 7,780 - but the US mail lost it, for four months, by then, I had already changed the oil at the Mercedes recommended 10,000 mile interval.

Simply put - the 5W40 HPL was holding up well, and could have gone a lot farther. The viscosity was still in grade, the TBN was still very strong, and the wear metals were low. The 10PPM of AL is an artifact of the aluminum used as a catalyst in the manufacture of the oil. It’s not indicative of wear in the engine.

So this is not the Euro 5-40? Your engine is not wearing at all. I've got the Euro in one MB coming up on 5k miles when I will change the filter just to see is any cleaning is going on.

Thanks for posting. i have 0w-40 supercar on the way from the july 4th sale. This will be for my truck to replace the HPL premium plus.

Looks like a great report, TBN strong, nice dose of moly.

Euro 5W-40 and SuperCar 5W-40 are the same oil.

Did u use hpl EC40 or do a cheap engine oil flush before switching to the SuperCar 5W-40?

I just changed over, drained out the old oil, put in the new. This is the second run on HPL, though, and I did not pull a UOA on the first one.

So, it’s a pure run. No leftover oil. Previously, I had used only the Mobil 1 0W40 in the car, with several very good UOA.

I’ve posted pictures of a look underneath the valve covers on this engine, and it’s remarkable how clean the engine is inside, even with 10,000 mile OCI. It’s really made me sensitive to specification. I think the specification is critical.

Thanks. This is definitely a pure HPL run. That explains the very consistent uoa wear/additive continuity between 7780 and 10173. The wear metals makes sense.

Did you buy your report through HPL? How much and is it on their website? I didn't see it but know not all their stuff is on their site

Solid report, lots of molybdenum on this oil. Looking forward to run this oil in the next drain or two. Thanks for sharing.

I looked all thru the media and couldn't find your pics of under the valve covers. Would love to see them.

I think it’s $35 prepaid, purchased through them, don’t quote me on that, as I bought them with a big order.

I bought this extractor - works great. Pull a sample through clean/new tubing so that it stays uncontaminated.

I also bought a bunch of new 1/4 inch nylon tubing to do the extraction.

I noticed that they do have the same specs on their PDS, but the Euro was listed for a couple dollars more than the Supercar & had to ask. This is the response I got from HPL.

"The 5W-40 is the only one that is exactly the same, if the pricing is different, it should not be and I will look into that. If you notice on the super car and euro the suitable for use specifications are different for the same viscosities across both data sheets (0W-30 for example). But there was not a different 5W-40 specification that required two different formulas. To save having to explain to customers that had the super car data sheet why there was not a 5W-40 on there, we just put it on both."

Makes sense to me. Thanks for the other link.
