How quiet my car was running...

I was at a 7-11 near me and left my car running while I went inside. I came outside and a guy that worked there was standing in front of my car noticing how quiet my car was running. He was like, " I just about could not even hear it running". I told him it was even more impressive given that the car has 355,400 miles on it. He was blown away by that.

Not too shabby for a 13 year old Nissan Altima VQ.

The Cam2 full synthetic motor oil does run quite quiet in the car. The semi synthetic Cam2 Superpromax 5w30 oil runs just has well. Havoline oils, Valvoline, and Mobil Super also run the quietest in the car. Castrol gold bottle and Pennzoil Ultra ran quite quiet has well.

Only one oil out of 30 ran noticeably loud in my VQ motor. Warren Oil semi synthetic blend 5w30. That was rather obviously louder.

I love those Nissan engines!!(y) All my Nissans I've had never had an engine issue. On my 300ZX, it runs so smooth and quiet that the only way sometimes you'll hear it running is when the cooling fan starts spinning, and like you, I've had people walk by and say the very same thing.

I love those Altima coupes. It was one of the cars I was shopping for when I bought my Accord. I just couldn't find the perfect one that I was looking for. The Accord just kind've fell into my lap per se.

What's even more amazing is how long your CVT has lasted and I say this in a good way(y)
Especially considering that you only did the first D&F of CVT fluid late in its life. I"ve loved our Nissan's more than the other vehicles we've owned especially my wife's Lexus RX that she owned for 15 yrs.

13 year old, not a 2013. A 2013 would be 9 -soon to be 10 MY old.
27,3XX per year.
Thanks for noting the oils used.
However, something makes me think the engine design is part of your peace.

And CVT transmission is original and hasn't had anything done to it other than fluid changes?

Where do you even find that oil in VA? I had never heard of it until last week when I asked about it on another thread here.

Napa in Windsor near me sells it by the case. 6 qt case full synthetic and 12 qt semi synthetic case.

Not sold in all Napa stores... No doubt.

The Napa in my home county of Gloucester sells a LOT of Amsoil.

Well of course ... The VQ is a tremendously good motor.

I have run 30 different oils in it. . And... Counting :)

good to hear that; it just shows how a routine maitainance goes a long way

our 08mazda6i is also super quite to this day with its 251K miles currently

We had a Datsun b210. It had a little blue block 4cyl in it. The car surrounding it was tinfoil. The engine was superb. That particular motor could make a million miles with 1975 tech.

My neighbor had a 87 Ford Escort work 1,000,000+ miles.... Original motor in it too. . Shocked me that car had that many miles on it.

Those Datsun four bangers would run forever if taken care of properly. Great motors.

Ironically I got this comment in the most ragged out vehicle I've ever owned, my former 1994 Ranger STX 4x4 manual 4.0. It needed a transmission, but was still extremely quiet at idle and creeping in gear, and just didn't make much noise at low speeds. A lady was crossing a parking lot to her car, and once she cleared the spot I wanted to turn in, I turned the wheel and the crunching of the tires against the pavement startled her, not even the PS pump. 🤣 I had the window down and she turned around and said "wow, that truck is really quiet." I just said yeah, I have no idea how because it's pretty ragged out and over 20 years old. She was middle age, but not like a hard of hearing old lady and seemed genuinely surprised a beat up truck with peeling clear coat was almost Prius quiet in a parking lot. It had the OE muffler and cats.
