Early Remingtons did not have choke tubes, so barrels were often swapped out to change the choke. As a result, the code on the barrel is only useful for telling you when the barrel was made. For absolute certainty, call Remington at the number listed on their website, and give them your serial number. They will be able to tell when it was made. Folks at Remington are very nice and quite helpful.
