How OLD are you.

I remember playing Cowboys and Indians with cap guns fully loaded. Bike rides out in the country several miles from home. As a kid when around adults you were to be seen but not heard. Grandmother cooked on a wood stove in the kitchen. We killed the chicken we had for Sunday dinner. And when in the Military in jump school we jumped out of C-119's.

I remember all of that, except I never understood jumping out of a perfectly good airplane. I was in artillery (M101 105 mm howitzers) and and infantry weapons platoon (81 mm mortars). I can still hear the rattling of the stove lids as it was fired up in the morning.

I remember telling my dad we needed to get seatbelts for the 62 Ford Ranch Wagon. It had holes for two front seat belts only. He bought them at the auto parts store we were in at the time.

I remember when you had to have a strong right leg to start a motorcycle.
My first movie at a Drive-In was Easy Rider which started my love for motorcycles. Captain America is the paint scheme on my current bike.

I'm so old that I remember hitch hiking all over the place and always quickly getting a ride and no one was ever worried about who they picked up. And I never worried about who picked me up either.
I have hitch-hiking thousands of miles during my younger days. Not having a car and not having much in the way of money made this the best way to get around. Met some interesting folks and never got stranded too long.

I had a college roommate whose car had a two stroke engine maybe 3 cyl, and when I was in college we won the NCAA Div 1 ice hockey. A guy on the team was 5’11” (another clue this was not recent), played in the NHL 19 seasons, and he coached the Washington Capitals. Pretty sure Dell as a co was invented around this time too 😂

Not gonna lie I’d gladly go back like I’m in an Eddie Money song
Was it one of these? My now wife had one in her college years - or at least borrowed it from the family stable. Europeans! :)

Raucous, noisy Saab 96 3cyl

Cap guns and neighborhood ball games and kick the can until the street lights came on.
Wintertime: sledding and tube riding and ice scating on frozen ponds.
Captain Kangaroo before going to school in the morning.

I'm so old that when we went out to play, my parents had no idea where we were, who we were with or what we were up to.
I'm so old that going to Burger King was a treat, and a rare one at that.
I'm so old we had one rotary phone and one B&W TV in the house.
I'm so old that I remember the TV repairman coming to the house with his tube tester and one time telling us it was the picture tube:(
I'm so old that there were dirt roads where my Grandmother lived and my uncle, who was in the DPW, let me drive the road grader!
I'm so old that when we went to Flemington Speedway or East Windsor, the stands were packed every Friday and Saturday.
I'm so old that I saw Billy Joel perform at my college in 1978 for $5.00 per ticket and that was front row, center!
Fortunately, I'm not so old, 67, that I've forgotten any of these wonderful (mostly) childhood memories.

I rode around in a 60s something cars that didn't have seat belts and have a scar on my head from a minor fender bender to prove it.

As a kid in my parents cars, the seatbelts were tucked out of sight between the seat and back, so they wouldn't get in the way.
