You can always do things earlier. Doesn’t mean it’s prudent or necessary, especially if low use. Coolant doesn’t wear out the same way as lubricants can, but the inhibitors can get used up.
The recommendation changes by model and year. Look in your owners manual/maintenance book.
I did mine (2008 Diesel) by the book. It said initial fill 15 years. When doing the fluid, replace the overflow tank with one that has the OEM Mercedes "pill" of renewing chemicals in it.
Yes, the old fluid looked just like the new fluid - translucent blue.
The OP said "flush" which I am not sure is ever needed if proper cooling system maintenance is done.
The owners manual may or may not be correct. My 2015 F250 came with Ford orange coolant which after xxx miles/months you added a container of Ford coolant additive and then could go more miles/months.
If one switched to newer Ford yellow things are different. No more need for a coolant additive after xxx miles/months. And the change interval is longer.
I loved the old Prestone flush kits of decades ago where you cut a radiator hose, installed the tee from the kit, connected a garden hose to the tee and flushed the cooling system. I may still have one in shrinkwrap. I also have a coolant filter in shrinkwrap.
Looking at the MB Pre-paid maintenance schedule, which covers all models from 2015 to present, the only coolant change listed is for the AMG V12 model.
The chart covers mileage up to 110K miles.
