How many of you have a winter beaters?

I have a shop do it every 4-5K, I use Kirkland 5W30 and Fram or Wix filters.

I've been thinking about getting one this year to drive in the winter. Most likely a 90s Toyota for under $3k. But, then I'm like I'll hardly drive the BMW. Even during the summer, I feel like I'd just drive the winter beater to keep the miles low on the BMW.

It would make sense to get a winter beater if I had an RWD M3 or something of that sort. I just don't want rust to form on the 540. Though, it is ceramic coated, etc. But, the undercarriage isn't protected. On the bright side, my younger brother can use it for work, etc.

If you do have a winter beater, why'd you buy one?

I see now. You have a newer one where the 540 is the 6 cyl and not the 8. I guess we'll have to see how these work out in the long term. Generally the 4 and 6 passed the 8bin resale after a few years due to the unwanted complexity and pricey maintenance

This is what I do. Love my “cheap” Civic. I don’t have to worry about it getting dinged in the parking lot, it does fine in the winter and is cheap as heck to own. All wins in my book.
