How long for old gas to evaporate left in an oil drain pan?

I'm trying to get rid ofsome old gas and boy does it put off some vapors. How long for this stuff to evaporate. Someone gave me some gas cans with used oil and gasoline. No telling if it got mixed with something else so I don't want to burn it in an engine.

The county where I live does recycling events, about once a month. I was able to bring about 4 gallons of stale nasty gas to them and they got rid of it, for no cost. Check around your area and see if they do the same kind of things.,,

Our county takes it at the Hazardous Household Waste site at the landfill any day except Sundays and holidays.
College kid part-timers on Saturdays always go through like inspecting for a bomb or something. The regular weekday crew just points to where to leave it.

The temperature has a lot to do with it. In the summer sitting in the sun is different than a cloudy day in winter.

No one can answer this. It could evaporate in hours or days/weeks (without knowing the amount).

If you have cans with used oil and gasoline in them together, then the gas will evap and leave a big oil mess. I would find a place to recycle it. If your county doesn't have such a site try a neighboring county or call your county recycling number and ask.

See if you can consolidate it to one can, then leave it on the sidewalk beside a gas station. Someone will steal it a pour it into their car.
