Does anyone know how hard the 4.8, 5.3, 6.0, 8.1 and LS1 are on oil? I believe they all have 6+ qt sump. Just wonder about extended OCI in these engine overall. Thanks!
I don't know about the newer Chevy V-8's but years back my friend had an 85ish Chevy van with the 305 that had over 300K miles. It was originally a Georgia DOT Van that he bought with about 180k. He put over 120k in NYC (hard miles). When I asked him if it burned oil he said "It would if it got it"

I have a company truck 98 chevy and i think its the 6.0 anyways its a vortec. This truck has just over 200,000 it gets the oil changed every 5000 sometimes i get busy and its 6 or 7 thousand. I have no idea what kind of oil they put in it i am sure its not the real good stuff. Oh yea i am a signal maintainer for the union pacific rail road and i do little jobs and maintance 10 to 30 minutes at a location and on the go again this truck is running down the road or ideling all day long. It uses 1 ouart between changes. I would guess these engines are easy on oil. Not trying to sell you one either i dont own one.
