(see subject) Also, wouldn't the abrasion of calcium cause abrasion?


(Hmmm...Maybe I should grind up my calcium tablets and dump it in my pan...just kidding!)
 
This site should offer you some basic details. As stated on the page:

  • Calcium - Engine oils , hydraulic oils, transmission fluids, and some circulating oils contain calcium in the form of calcium sulfonate or calcium phenate. It is formulated to act as a detergent /dispersant.
The calcium you see in oil analysis is of this type (oil soluble) and this is not a source of abrasion.
