I am driving a Canadian version 2018 Honda Odyssey Touring with the 10 speed transmission [I think]. It has 125K miles on it. I have tried to get my transmission fluid changed at a couple of places in the town I live and they say no-go. The Honda dealer in town is incompetent and seriously overpriced. Being in 2024 now, I was wondering is there is a name brand ATF Type 2 oil for sale that is non-Honda? Jiffy Lube and a few other places won't touch doing this service. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

What is the model # of the transmission?

I've used Honda and Idemitsu in those cars. Idemitsu used to be a decent price on Amazon.
I think my last purchase was Honda DW-1 from Ebay.

I have no idea what the model number of the transmission is on this vehicle. How would I find that information?
It's marked on the structural rib of the transmission - or possibly via the VIN, google for a VIN decoder.

If it truly is the 10 speed, then: https://www.amsoil.com/p/amsoil-sig...c-automatic-transmission-fluid-atf/?zo=515729

Capacity: 3.5 quarts Initial Fill.
Capacity: 9 speed EX Q5NZ Total Fill 7.7 quarts.

Capacity:10 speed With Rib mark TOR MNXA Total Fill 8.8 quarts.
Capacity:10 speed With O Rib mark TOR MNXA Total Fill 9 quarts.

Supposedly Amsoils ATF now covers 2.0 fluid but I don’t think anyone has really tried it yet

OEM is all I’ve used so far.

I just changed the ATF in an Acura RDX which uses this 10 speed transmission. It wasnt a hard job and though it did take 5 quarts of fluid, and was expensive, I bought the Acura branded oil from Ebay for like $16 a quart.

I'm one of those using Amsoil ATF with good results. It's not as easy as the 2014, but still doable with some extra steps.

Make sure you have the 10 speed as iirc the 2018 here in the US isn't available as an option?
The Touring and Elite got teh 10 speed. The rest didn't get it until 2020 or 2021. But yes, ours is an Elite so we have the 10'er.

Same.

Some guys swear on a stack of bibles Valvoline max life works well.

I see that Valvoline recommends Maxlife ATF for Honda Type 3.0 and 3.1, no mention of Type 2.0.

This Kendall application guide shows recommendations for Honda Type 3.0, 3.1 and CVT but specifically shows no product for the Type 2.0 / 10-speed.

Curious what makes this 10-speed so "special".

Update:
Get this, Kendall shows that the following can be used in "Acura ATF Type 2.0" applications for 2016-22 ILX and 2015-22 TLX (2.4L):
VersaTrans
VersaTrans LV
and
VersaTrans CVT Plus

What's the difference from Honda 2.0, 3.0, 3.1?

3.0/3.1 is probably ZF Lifeguard 9, for the ZF9.

2.0 is for the 10-speed automatic, an in-house Honda transmission. It is Honda's first in-house automatic to use planetary gears like most normal automatics.

However, I don't know if 2.0 is LV or ULV. If it's LV (like Mercon LV, Dexron VI, etc), then Maxlife will most likely be OK in it. If it's ULV, then you'll need ULV ATF.
