Honda outboard engine oil Chevy 2500 6.0 engine

My boss had our shop "boat" put in Honda outboard engine oil. It's a Chev 2500 truck. He does tow customer boats around at times. I'm wondering how this holds up for this vehicle? I noticed the oil life monitor was saying change the oil. So he does run it out a bit.

The oil fill did not look as clean as it probably could. I'm thinking running long drains on this oil is not ideal? Opinions.......?

I am hesitant to tell him what's best for his truck, but was wondering what some of you think of this? He gets the Honda oil at cost.

I probably wouldn't do it. But hey, as long it wasn't your idea, it's his truck. Just try not to laugh too hard in his face when it goes boom.

I ran Citgo Outboard motor oil 10W-40 in my friends Saturn and in my !echo!; it did say it was SL rated. Didn't think of running long drains, but I did think this out a few years ago believing that maybe a marine oil would be more shear resistant and hold up better against fuel dilution?

Yes it probably is more shear resistant.
